It's helpful to understand Net Carbs, which affect blood glucose. That equation is: NET CARBS = TOTAL CARBS – FIBER – SUGAR ALCOHOLS & ALLULOSE. I also use the iPhone app Cronometer. Make tracking and recording carbs easy.

Kathy, I think you would benefit from the book β€œ Calorie King” calorie, fat and carb counter. it will fit in a purse and lists a lot of restaurant foods, as well as grocery chain and brand specific items. It was a big help to me at times.
