Members shared enthusiastic support for someone starting the Omnipod 5 insulin pump next week, with several describing it as life-changing and one member crediting it with literally saving their life after dangerously high blood sugars. Many members offered practical advice, including being patient during the first month while the pump learns your patterns (which may mean running higher and needing more corrections initially), writing down questions before training, and pairing it with a Dexcom CGM for best results. A recurring theme was acknowledging the emotional challenges of pump therapy, from the fear of a machine controlling insulin to feeling depressed about wearing devices, while reassuring the original poster that these feelings are normal and that the benefits ultimately outweigh the adjustment period.

I use the 780G now. Great pump. I tried the Omnipod for 6 months. There is a lot of good things about the pump I liked, and some I did not. For various reasons, I went back to Medtronic. I think you will like the pod. Just be patient because it takes awhile to learn you.

I have been using the omnipod 5 since November of last year. I love it. It is also my first pump. the first month was challenging seeing that the pump was learning my trends. so I did run higher than usual and I had to give a lot of corrections but now I don't have to give as many corrections. there are times when I forget I even have it on. currently my only issues with the omnipod 5 is changing it every 2-3 days and having to carry around two devices (my phone and the omnipod PDM) because the omnipod app hasn't been released yet. Other than that I love it.
