The health insurance in the US is a joke for people like us with a maintenance disease. It’s a sad state of affairs when someone with zero medical training is deciding what is better for an insulin dependent diabetics’ health rather than the medical doctors who treat him/her. It’s extremely frustrating. And then they dictate which on line medical pharmacy has to supply us with our medical equipment or else it isn’t covered. It’s a system built on bullying and blackmail. I have learned to throw it back on my insurance company to figure it out when I get jerked around and don’t get my equipment because of a mistake the pharmacy has made. The insurance company can deal with the pharmacy and get my meds sent if I’m going to be forced to work with them and this method has worked well for me.
As far as the dexcom 7 goes, I have had mine almost 2 years and I have no complaints. Like any technical device, it does fail occasionally but dexcom will replace it free of charge when you call them about the problem. They will also supply you with 10 extra overpatches free of charge every couple of months. It doesn’t come off when you get it wet. If that were true you wouldn’t be able to shower with it on. It did come off of my arm with a high humidity environment a few weeks ago but that doesn’t generally happen. If it’s something you are considering, I personally highly recommend. I have found it to be accurate within 20 points of my glucose meter

Hi Harvo, Don't hurry to get the G7. It is available - but I've experienced several problems with it.

It is better to get a diabetic educator with knowledge of different diabetic aids for helping us. G7 is not yet on the OMNIPOD compatability. I am working on getting a new system from Tandem. I already am on the X2 T Slim pump but looking for better logarithm support for reducing spikes and not needing my intervention to resolve. Next month, I'm going to see my diabetic educator, who is also a type 1. My endocrinologist said I am doing good, but a better logarithm on my pump would make a hell of a lot of difference. He likes metronic 780G logarithm, but I hate their CGM. they should just do pumps. I love Dexcom. I will look at BOBI. That's Tandem new offering. Please be careful and utilize your health care team. Yes, insurance companies are deciding rather than our doctors on our options.

I agree, my bcbs treats me like a diabetic 2, suggesting if I eat correctly and exercise more I will not be diabetic any longer. I am like well I have been diabetic since I was 13.

To MzWaddles. I totally concur and agree with you. These insurance company people have no right to make our decisions. Yah it's like you say they think our diabetes condition will just cure itself and we won't need any insulin anymore. They need to stay out of it. Greedy big companies.
