My son always goes by the finger stick reading. As great as cgms are they aren't always accurate

Check your finger stick reading - - wash your hands first. If using an alcohol wipe, be sure to wipe off the first drop of blood with a clean cotton ball. Alcohol on your finger can effect the reading.

Also, look at the trend arrow on your CGM. If it is showing your blood sugar is rising, this may be the reason for the discrepancy. CGMs tend to lag @ 10 minutes compared to actual blood sugar. A lot can happen in 10 mins!

If you're still concerned, I would call the CGM manufacturer. They can trouble shoot with you to help determine if the sensor is malfunctioning. If it is, they will send you a replacement free of charge. If this is your last sensor, they can send it overnight.

If this happens frequently, your doctor can prescribe an extra box of sensors each month. This may require getting a Prior Authorization from your insurance, but it can be done if needed.

Hi, Actually, the finger stick reading is more accurate so go by that. The CGM can have a difference of 40. What I do is check my finger weekly and then put that in my CHM as my new calibration so they are the same.

You are describing a calibration issue. If how I feel does not match my readings, then I check it. Every time I change the cgm location, the first 24 hours are inaccurate. My reading are good 95% of the time.

You can recalibrate your sensor numbers and it'll recalibrate your machine I just had that happen about an hour ago it said I was 42 and I was actually 90
