Started stacking my insulin which is bad. My doctor suggested I don't do that. Sometimes I wait 15 minutes after I take my insulin. I've waited till lunch to eat cause scar tissue.

Any area where you can "pinch" your skin an inch is a good place to inject insulin. Try different areas on your body. I have used my lower back, an uncle of mine would use the back of his upper calf. Any area where you can Pinch the skin up is game. Keep in mind that not using the areas with scar tissue will give your skin a chance to heal, so that eventually you can use those areas again.

To help manage insulin resistance, increasing physical activity can make cells more sensitive to insulin. If you smoke, quitting can help improve insulin sensitivity. Working with your doctor on medication adjustments may also be beneficial.

For dealing with scar tissue (lipodystrophy), it's crucial to rotate injection sites properly. Using the same spots repeatedly or reusing needles can damage tissue and affect how your body absorbs insulin, leading to unpredictable blood sugar levels. Instead of stacking insulin (taking additional doses before the first dose has finished working), work with your healthcare team to develop a proper dosing schedule. They can help determine the right type and timing of insulin for your needs. There are several insulin types available - from rapid-acting that works within 15 minutes to ultra-long-acting that works over 36 hours.

Your healthcare team can demonstrate proper injection techniques and help create a rotation plan for your injection sites. With proper technique and site rotation, lipodystrophy typically improves within several weeks.

Hi Greg. Have you thought about using an insulin pump? Since using the Omnipod 5, I do not have to inject into my stomach area which has reduced pain.

Hi Greg, I have both resistance and scar tissue plus I rotate sites and I’m sure do too. Anyway, I try to keep rotating but have found that I can go a little further down on my legs, more on my sides for legs, stomach/waist, and since I can’t reach my butt, when I visit my daughter, my grandsons (started at 5yo) after I point out where it goes. And try to use arms but not always the easiest since I use Dexcom 7 on arms. To me, I just try areas and see if it works. I do notice a big difference if I exercise including cleaning my house, shopping, walking yard work, etc. Hope this helps some. As for weight gain, symlin (Script from Dr) works, some .
